**** (New) Eastman L-OMCE-QS Luthier Series acoustic/electric ****
I continue to be amazed by the guitars coming out of the Eastman workshop. This brand new example is a L-OMCE-QS, part of their limited Luthier Series and the materials, construction and most of all the sound are astounding. Based on the standard OM-size but with a cutaway, this guitar is constructed of all solid woods with an Adirondack spruce top, mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, ebony bridge, bone nut and saddle, ebony bridge pins w/abalone dot and drop-dead gorgeous Quilted Sapele sides. The tone of Sapele (a member of the mahogany family) has been described as a half-way point between mahogany and koa and I totally agree. The neck shape is a soft-C with slightly rounded edges for superb playing comfort. Nut width is 1.75”. But what really sets this model apart are the details. It features a sound port facing the player on the side of the upper bout. My friend Steve Connor, a world-renowned maker of classical guitars was one of the first to use sound ports on his incredible guitars and the steel string guitar makers are just starting to understand the advantage of sound ports. Not only do they allow air - and sound - to escape the body of a guitar and make it much easier for the player to hear what’s coming out but they also allow the guitar body to “breath.” The result is much better sustain and resonance. Other details: beautiful abalone inlays/position markers on the fretboard, three-layer binding featuring walnut, blue spruce and redwood, high gloss finish, a classy volute where the neck opens into the headstock, and high quality single-gear tuning machines with black snakewood knobs. About the only thing I do not care for with Eastmans is the electronics they use to amplify their guitars. So I immediately brought this guitar to Fran Ledoux of Bay Fretted Instruments to pull the standard unit out and install my favorite pick-up, the passive K&K which yields the purest acoustic tone I’ve ever heard. I have them in all my guitars! Included is a very high quality hardshell case, also immaculate. Very few makers are still including a hardshell case (substituting a padded gig bag) with any guitar much under $2k. This guitar is listed by all the Eastman dealers for a bit over $1600. I’m offering this one in perfect, new condition with upgraded pick-up for $1295. There are NO guitars with this many features and highest quality fit and finish on the market. I am happy to answer any questions if you drop me a line via my contact page. More images below:
Gretsch Historic Series G-3900 Hollow Body Archtop
Here is a rarest of rare birds: A Gretsch hollow body jazz/blues archtop made in the U.S. - for a GREAT price! Between 1999 and 2002 Gretsch introduced (and then quickly discontinued) their Historic Series of electric and acoustic guitars. All were made at the Peerless factory in Korea, which many players consider the best maker of electric guitars in the Far East. All from Korea….except one - this G 3900! About 120 of this model were made at a Gretsch manufacturing facility in Savannah, Georgia between 1999 and late 2000. I only heard about them from a few Gretsch aficionados and had never seen or played one. Then this sweet, sweet guitar came along and I jumped on it (well, not really jumped, but you get my drift…!). Made of laminated maple with a full 3” depth, it produces a thick, mellow and beautiful sound. It has a Gretsch humbucking pick-up, floating pickguard with volume and tone controls, Gretsch retro “moderne” appointments like the special tone enhancing rosewood bridge shape (with thumb wheel adjustable saddle to tweak the action), the famous Gretsch “cat’s eye” sound holes, bound neck and body and Gretsch “Thumb print” position markers. The tobacco sunburst with full gloss finish is gorgeous and the action is low and fast. Now here’s the best part: This extremely rare hollow body archtop made 24 years ago is in virtually perfect condition. You might find a pinhead-size dent in the finish here and there but even those are hard to find. I restrung it with Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Swing light gauge flat wound strings (.011 - .047), a $40 upgrade and the guitar sings when playing classic jazz, swing, early rock and blues. It came to me with a more recent (branded) heavy duty gig bag. I’m offering this extremely rare American-made piece of Gretsch history for only $895. Shipping to the Lower 48 can be arranged for an additional charge. Please contact me via the Contact page on this website if you have any questions.
**** (New) Recording King 000-size all-solid rosewood/Adirondack RO-328
The Recording King RO-328 is part of their premier Tonewood series that feature ALL solid woods: East Indian Rosewood back and sides, Adirondack spruce top, mahogany neck w/rosewood fingerboard and bridge. It sounds terrific right now with excellent resonance and sustain and with solid wood construction it will only get better as it ages. A bone nut and saddle further enhance the tone. Fingerboard width at the nut is 1 ¾”. With a very comfortable 000 size and short scale neck it’s very comfortable for anyone with a smaller frame to hold and play vs. a jumbo or dreadnought-size instrument. The fit and finish are great and I’m listing this brand new Recording King at MAP, which is $799, (list retail price is $1261) but contact me for my latest reduced price. AND I’m offering it for no additional cost with a very good quality padded gig bag, a $50+ value, unlike the big online retailers. Shipping available for an additional cost. I do not know of any other guitar with solid rosewood back & sides and an Adirondack top that comes close to this fine instrument! More images below. **** New Alhambra 3C CW E1 nylon string "crossover" guitar, stunning!! ****
Well, it happened again. Every once in a while I come into a guitar that makes the devil whisper into my ear: Don't sell it! Don't do it!!! You'll never be able to find another one!! But I don't listen to him even though I am sorely tempted! Here's just such a guitar. Made in Spain by the craftsmen and women at the Alhambra workshop, this instrument is nothing short of astounding. Rather than a regular "classical" guitar, this one is a :crossover": It has a cutaway for ease of access to the upper frets, Fishman electronics that include a 3-band equalizer, tuner and phase reversal with easy access to change its 9v battery, a nut width of 1 7/8" and a shallow soft C-shape neck, this guitar is designed for steel string players who are used to thinner necks than are typically found on nylon-string guitars. It wears new Augustine hi-tension strings for crisp and clear response, and its sound both acoustically and plugged in is fantastic. Details: solid cedar top, mahogany sides, back and neck w/rosewood fingerboard; rosewood bridge & headstock overlay and body binding; premium tuners. The high gloss finish is immaculate and this guitar has zero evidence it was ever played. The action is lower than you normally see on traditional classical guitars. I must come back to the sound....deep, rich, resonant with superb sustain. Comes with the highest quality hard foam case with multiple pockets and straps and the Alhambra name embroidered on the front. This guitar is sold nationally for $1200 - and frankly even at that price it is a bargain. I am offering it for HALF that: only $600. Many pictures below (please forgive the reflections....this guitar is absolutely flawless!!) and more available on request. |
2013 Fender USA-made American Standard Jazz Bass
This is a first for me on this site: listing an electric bass for sale, and a very fine one it is! On consignment from a former student who bought it in 2013 on a whim, it is in virtually perfect condition. The Fender American Standard Jazz Bass has been used by countless professional and serious recreational players for decades. Made in the Fender plant in Corona, California it features the classic tobacco sunburst high gloss finish, two high-output Fender pick-ups with individual tone controls, master volume, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. It sounds rich, sweet and mellow and the action is perfect. Sold with original rectangular hardshell case and all the “case candy”: wrenches, owner’s manual, Fender polishing cloth (unused). Overall condition is excellent/virtually un-played with only a couple pinhead-size marks on the finish (only on the head). This bass sold for close to $2000 when new and it is offered here for only $1250. |
Phonic 415R Four Channel PA head w/USB recorder
This brand new, never used small PA head is perfect for a single performer or a duo or anyone wanting to amplify their vocals and/or guitar. Rated at 150 watts, it features four channels (HI/LO Z inputs); two-band EQ: individual volume controls and individual controls along with a master control for on-board digital effects like reverb and delay; heavy duty housing and mono or stereo outputs; output jacks for two PA speakers. I only plugged it in once to check the sound quality, which is great! But the coolest part is a fully controllable insert for a USB drive and recording capability. You can save whatever you run through this unit to a USB, then upload it to your computer for sound editing, something rarely found on PA heads and never found on one at this price! This is a discontinued model but when it was generally available it sold for $124. You can own this small, lightweight PA head in perfect condition for only $95! Would also make a great amplifier for a monitor system.
Ukuleles for sale!
In the past few years many people have discovered the ease and pure fun of playing the ukulele. In standard tuning, ukes share many of the same chord shapes as the guitar so guitarists find they can play songs almost from moment one and novices succeed with relative ease due to the instrument only having four strings (nylon or fluorocarbon based - much easier on the finger tips than steel) and the instrument is also perfect for youngsters because the frets are much closer together than the guitar. Factor in relatively low cost, and if you haven't already - join the Uke Revolution! The sound is guaranteed to make you grin!
Mahalo Concert-size ukulele
A very handsome high gloss Concert-size uke with some classy details not normally found in ukes in this price range, including open headstock with high-quality gold single gear tuners; rosewood bridge and fingerboard; gorgeous tobacco sunburst top and back. Concert-size ukes are a great alternative to the tiny soprano models that can be very hard to play for adults with average or wider fingers. You get that happy, punchy sound of a soprano uke in a much easier to play slightly larger body and better separation between the frets. Sold with a good quality nylon gig bag for only $109.

Music Nomad Guitar Care Products
Music Nomad products are made by a small company in California and they have gained a reputation among professionals and guitar enthusiasts for making some of the most innovative and high quality guitar care products on the market. I use many of them and love the results! Biodegradable and environmentally friendly - no fluorocarbon propellents, no silicone.
Music Nomad Soundhole Humitar
A properly humidified acoustic guitar is essential to avoid cracks, bridge detachment and other nasty issue, not to mention the best possible sound. The Music Nomad soundhole humidfier is the best of its type on the market. Easy to use - slips between the strings, which hold it in place. Easy to open and close compared to similar products and the sponge holds 10 times its weight in water. I consider this an absolute necessity and the cheapest insurance against structural disasters you can buy! Distilled water recommended but not required. $20.00
The Guitar One for Gloss Finishes
This clear spray-on polish and cleaner for gloss finishes is what I use on all my guitars, including some very expensive models as it is perfectly safe for all finishes, including nitrocellulose. Produces a dazzling and extremely durable shine while removing finger smudges and other substances. Quick and easy to use - spray on, use a clean, dry cloth to remove and polish. Highly, highly recommended! $12.00
Guitar Detailer for Matte and Gloss Finishes
This is your choice if you have a guitar with a matte/open pore finish or need to do a thorough cleaning of your gloss instrument. More of a cleaner than a polish, it will remove finger grime and restore your guitar to its original pristine condition. Smells great too! $10.00
Music Nomad Pro Strength Guitar Polish
Have a major restoration project on tap? This is the stuff you need! It's a thicker liquid than the other Music Nomad polishes and cleaners. Silicone and wax free. Use sparingly with a bit of "elbow grease" and using clean clothes you will restore that old, road-worn guitar to what it once was. Not recommended for use on fretboards. Removes dirt and grime and also oxidation on metal parts. For use on gloss instruments. $10.00
Music Nomad Tune-It Nut and Saddle Lubricator
Do your strings get "bound up" in the nut or where they cross the saddle and make a "ping" sound when you're tuning? Does it seem impossible to get a string perfectly in tune without it slipping sharp or flat? Here's the solution. This product is applied to the nut slots and along the top of the saddle when you change strings. A gentle and benign lubricant keeps your string slipping smoothly through the nut and over the saddle. Use a tiny bit with every string change and those frustrating tuning issues will disappear. Also reduces string breakage! $12.00
Franklin Straps
Founded by guitar designer and professional musician Greg Bennett in 1999, Franklin straps are made in the USA and designed to be the most comfortable, functional and handsome straps available anywhere. "The Soft Strap" is their calling card - made with the highest quality leather and fabrics you will feel like you're putting on well worn and loved garment from the first moment you sling your guitar over your shoulder. I've tried dozens of guitar straps over the years and these are the best on the market as far as I'm concerned - and I'm confident you'll feel that way, too!
Ball Glove leather strap w/buckskin backing
Remember the feel and smell of your favorite baseball glove after years of loving use? That's what you'll find in this strap. Measures 2.5" wide and 52" long, totally adjustable. The rich, textured Caramel Leather top layer is backed by soft and supple buckskin. Gold stitching. Super comfortable and beautiful to see. $30.00
Woven Cotton Strap w/embossed leather ends
Here's Franklin's basic cotton strap but in some ways it's not basic at all! 2" in width and 59" in length (totally adjustable) it is a soft but extremely durable strap with very attractive embossed leather ends - no vinyl here as you'll find on just about all other "economy" straps from other makers. Available in Black or Chocolate Brown. $17.00
Brocade Cotton Ukulele Strap
While some uke players still prefer to tuck their instrument under their arm when they play, most players eventually realize that using a strap just makes more sense. Made of brocade cotton with wide plastic clip that goes under and around the instrument and up into the uke's sound hole after the strap is looped around the neck it measures 24" in length and it adjustable. High quality, comfortable cotton in Red Jacquard color. $16.00
Snark SN-2 All-Instrument tuner
Snark tuners are just about everywhere in the guitar playing world these days but they are NOT all the same. I've owned and used all of them and have concluded that the SN-2 is the best of the bunch. It is quick and accurate and compared to some of the other models it is very easy to hold and squeeze into place. Some of the models have a slick surface that makes this annoying at times. Plus, being calibrated for a wider range of instruments I'm convinced its accuracy is superior no matter which string instrument you play. Yes, it costs a couple dollars more than the lesser models but you WILL recognize and appreciate the difference immediately. $25
Guitar and Ukulele Strings
There are hundreds and hundreds of choices in guitar strings. I will only list a few - on purpose. I've tried dozens of brands, varieties and gauges and these are my favorites. While I may add more as times goes by, you can rest assured these strings are tested and proven, offering superior sound, durability and longevity.
Martin Clapton's Choice Phosphor Bronze Strings
I just keep coming back to these strings! They sound great on both rosewood and mahogany guitars, last for a long time and are durable. Available in light or medium gauge - please specify. (I use the lights on all my guitars). $8.95
Martin Authentic Acoustic 80/20 Bronze Strings
These are Martin's new version of their premier Marquis strings. They still have thread wrapped ball ends to protect the bridge but now have a slightly different formula to prevent corrosion and last longer. Slightly softer to the touch than other strings from Martin, they are very comfortable to play and are equally appropriate for strumming or finger-style playing. 80/20 Bronze is slightly brighter than the standard 92/8 phosphor bronze varieties - if you have a guitar that is a bit bass heavy or lacks resonance, these strings will help improve the overall sound of your instrument. Available in light gauge. $9.95
Aquila Nylgut Ukulele Strings
THE standard premium strings for ukuleles. Made in Italy, these special formula nylon strings are made to break in quickly and last for a long, long time. I offer only the unwrapped versions (most popular) in soprano, concert, tenor and baritone ukulele lengths and gauges. $8.95 for any size!
